About Jim Smith, Ph.D.

Jim Smith, Ph.D. has spent almost three decades solving complex problems for farmers, businesses, and agricultural operations across the country. He attended Purdue University before earning his Ph.D. in swine nutrition from Kansas State University, worked over 20 years in the livestock feed industry, and now operates Patio Pondering Consulting out of Grabill, Indiana.

Born and raised in Allen County, Jim is an Eagle Scout, Boy Scout and 4-H leader, and steward of a 170-year multi-generational family farm in Allen and DeKalb Counties.

Jim isn't running because politics interests him. He's running because Springfield Township deserves honest, competent, transparent leadership — and he has the background to deliver it.

No party handed him this candidacy. No insider recruited him. He's filing as an independent because this job isn't about ideology. It's about your tax dollars, your township, and your community.
