Faith in Springfield Township

On any given Sunday, our neighbors gather in a lot of different places, both in and out of our 36 square miles we call home. Some meet in brick sanctuaries that have stood for generations. Some meet in small chapels on a corner in Harlan, and some in country churches with fields all around. Our Amish neighbors worship in their homes, with the buggies lined up outside.

Here are the congregations and ministries that call our township home:

  • Church of Christ at Harlan

  • Countryside Church of Christ

  • Cuba Mennonite Church

  • Ekklesia in Harlan

  • Harlan Christian Youth Center

  • Harlan United Methodist Church

  • Holy Trinity Lutheran Church

  • Living Faith Chapel

  • Maranatha Chapel

  • Sovereign Redeemer Church

  • Multiple Amish church districts with no dedicated church building

Many of these buildings were built and kept up by neighbors who gave their time and money to something bigger than themselves. That’s stewardship. They took care of what was entrusted to them and handed it to the next generation. The names and buildings don’t show all the good these churches do in the community, from food banks to support for those who are struggling to foundations for our youth, and so much more that many never see.

That’s the kind of township I want to help look after: one where we’re honest with each other, open about how decisions get made, and careful with what’s been entrusted to us. Stewardship, integrity, and transparency are the pillars of my campaign, and they’re values I see in our township every Sunday.

Different traditions, one township. I’m grateful for every one of them.
