Springfield Township Deserves Better — I'm Running for Trustee

Springfield Township, I'm Jim Smith — and I'm running for Township Trustee because this community is worth fighting for, and it deserves to stay in the hands of the people who call it home.

I've spent nearly three decades solving complex problems for farmers, businesses, and agricultural operations across the country and around the world. I attended Purdue University and went on to earn my Ph.D. in swine nutrition from Kansas State University. I run Patio Pondering Consulting right here out of Grabill, Indiana. I'm an Eagle Scout, a Boy Scout and 4-H leader. My ancestors first settled this area in 1855, and for 170 years my family has been politically active in Allen and DeKalb Counties — whether as a precinct committeeman or a citizen sheriff, we have always shown up to support and improve our communities. This is my home. These are my people.

My values are conservative — I believe in fiscal responsibility, limited government, and accountability to the taxpayer. That hasn't changed. I sought the Republican nomination for this race, but was blocked by the Allen County Republican Party. Rather than walk away, I chose to take my case directly to the voters of Springfield Township as an Independent — because your township deserves a choice. I've already earned the support of a broad, bipartisan cross-section of Springfield Township residents who believe what I believe: that the Trustee's office should be open, honest, and answerable to you.

If elected, I pledge that every tax dollar will be accounted for, the checkbook will be open, and my door will always be open.
